InPost, a parcel locker firm, has acquired the delivery company Yodel, making it the third-largest logistics player in the UK, behind Royal Mail and Evri. In this deal, InPost secured 95.5% of Judge Logistics Ltd, Yodel’s parent company, with the remaining 4.5% retained by PayPoint. This acquisition enables InPost to process over 300 million parcels annually, expand its merchant base to over 500 e-commerce stores, and gain an 8% market share.
Rafał Brzoska, Founder and CEO of InPost Group, emphasized that the acquisition accelerates InPost’s UK expansion, reflecting the company’s long-term commitment and perceived growth opportunities within the UK market. Brzoska also noted that the logistics model that succeeded in Europe is expected to transform the UK market similarly. Neil Kuschel, CEO of InPost UK, called the acquisition a “game-changer,” highlighting the combination of traditional doorstep deliveries and the company’s locker network to enhance reliability, flexibility, and efficiency for customers and e-commerce retailers.
This acquisition builds on the partnership formed last year, with Yodel’s last-mile services supporting InPost’s locker-to-door service. It follows InPost’s acquisition of Menzies Distribution, which granted InPost full control over its UK logistics process. This move demonstrates InPost’s strategy to consolidate its delivery operations and expand organically while investing in technologies that enhance customer convenience and grow its Out Of Home delivery points. This comprehensive approach aims to reshape the UK’s parcel delivery market.
