PostNord to Build High-Tech, Sustainable Parcel Terminal in Sweden

PostNord plans to expand its terminal network in Sweden with an investment of SEK 1.1 billion in a new high-tech and sustainable terminal in Vaggeryd, Jönköping County, Småland. Set for completion in early 2028, this terminal will be the company’s largest project to date, featuring a parcel-handling capacity of 25,000 parcels per hour, making it the highest capacity facility in Sweden.

The expansion addresses the rising volume of parcel deliveries driven by the booming e-commerce market. PostNord aims to consolidate its dominance in Sweden’s parcel and logistics sector, following recent terminal establishments in Växjö, Örebro, Helsingborg, and Norrköping. The Vaggeryd terminal will utilize a state-of-the-art sorting machine with over 1,000 sorting directions, ensuring efficient and swift handling of goods.

Sustainability is a key focus of the facility, which will include roofs designed for solar panels and charging infrastructure to support PostNord’s objective of achieving a fossil-free vehicle fleet by 2030. The terminal is set to achieve BREEAM Very Good or Miljöbyggnad Silver certification, reflecting its commitment to energy efficiency and a high-quality indoor environment.

Infrahubs, the real estate company, will construct the terminal, underscoring its vital role in future logistics and distribution. This collaboration highlights a strategic partnership aimed at modernizing logistics infrastructure significantly, ensuring smarter and more sustainable operations that are well-prepared for future demands.
