CONCOR to Boost Logistics with New Terminals and Direct Port Delivery Initiatives

The Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) is embarking on a series of strategic initiatives aimed at significantly optimizing logistics efficiency across the country. Key among these initiatives is the increase in direct port delivery (DPD) movements from ports to the hinterland, which is a critical move designed to cut down on transit times and operational costs. By focusing on enhancing their DPD capabilities, CONCOR is not just improving the speed and reliability of goods delivery but also ensuring a more streamlined supply chain process for their clients. These initiatives align with a broader vision that includes enhancing infrastructure and providing customized end-to-end logistics solutions for major corporate entities like Vedanta, Tata, Reliance, and Jindal.

One of the notable steps CONCOR is taking involves the addition of more tank containers specifically for bulk cement transportation. This move is part of their effort to provide specialized container services that address the needs of various industries. The bulk cement logistics sector, for instance, is expected to begin showing tangible results by the third fiscal quarter due to the delivery of 500 containers that were ordered from Braithwaite Limited, a Railway PSU. These containers will be produced and delivered in stages, with the first batch expected to roll out by September. Following this, new rakes will be added every one to two months, thereby enhancing the logistical capabilities progressively and steadily.
