Hybrid Tech Boosts Safety for Commercial Fleet Drivers

Transport Monitoring Solutions (TMS) has unveiled its new hybrid Driver Visibility System (DVS), which combines radar and AI camera technologies, aiming to improve safety for commercial vehicle operators. The system is specifically designed for fleets operating in London and addresses the limitations of standalone technologies by enhancing driver awareness without being overly intrusive. The Progressive Safe System focuses on avoiding the blind spots that often pose risks to pedestrians.

The AI camera is strategically positioned on the A-pillar, enabling detection of stationary pedestrians in blind spots and offering drivers context-rich alerts for timely risk assessments. Despite challenges such as adverse weather conditions or lens obstruction potentially affecting camera performance, the radar ensures continuous, accurate detection under such circumstances. The system also incorporates audible muted alarms to prevent disturbances during silent hours. Moreover, the innovation includes an advanced Moving Off Information System (MOIS), which utilizes a gyroscope to deliver precise alerts during vehicle moving-off maneuvers.

TMS’s hybrid solution represents a significant advancement in fleet safety technology, addressing practical driving challenges faced by commercial operators. This versatile and reliable configuration enhances driver visibility, thereby emphasizing safety and reducing risk in busy urban environments. By offering these tailored technological improvements, TMS demonstrates a commitment to evolving safety standards for commercial vehicle fleets.
